Hi everyone! Now it’s over – all summer holidays. We came back on Monday from Greece + Spain holiday. I tried to do some drawing, painting but I couldn’t really concentrate… So I forget September’s 29faces challenge this time. Here’s one I did for fun, one line drawing of Einstein

After the last post I made a decision to order Lenovo Yoga and that arrived on Monday. My weekend spent so slowly when I just waited for Monday to come. I ended up choosing Lenovo instead of Mac because this was of course a bit cheaper, but in addition included more memory and I was interested in 2 in 1 feature which means that this works also as a tablet due to the touch screen. The screen turns 360-degrees and this is powerful enough for games and software. I tested to play with it and it...

Days seems to run from my view uncontrollably and one of my favorite month is nearly gone. Trees are changing their attires and I've been hunting haze views with my camera in the mornings. I would love to take the pictures about the thick fog, but so far the luck hasn't found me.  Last weekend we went to see a few gigs once again; Lasten Hautausmaa and Grave Pleasures. I hadn't seen Grave Pleasures before and actually I realized the singer's previous project Beastmilk is more familiar to me...

This week has been a dentist week – we made a plan for crowns etc. Feeling a bit nervous, blue, I haven’t had inspiration to paint nor drawing. But I found this gentleman I made in January.   ‘a gentleman in a long coat’       Paint Party Friday     How has […]

Stories behind the wuthering doors -

An outfit from the week. I managed to find a pencil skirt in the flea market a week ago and it was like new. The skirt is made of a stretchy material including a lining. I find it's pretty quality and fits perfectly. Sometimes I need to narrow a hip from the ready-made skirts because my hip is quite nonexistent, but not this time. A mesh shirt is many years old which I bought when I lived in Savonlinna and a harness is self made.  Shirt: Lindex, Skirt: Flea market, Harness: Diy During the week...

On my recent scavenger hunt I came across a postage stamp album with flower motifs. I do collect stamps myself, but a lot of the stamps were bulk issue from countries that used stamps as export goods. So I didn't feel they were too precious to use in mixed media. (Blog hop people, please read on!) I started by tearing up paers and collaging them onto a master board. When dry, I adhered different washi tapes all over. Then I used Brusho colors in green, turquoise and Prussian blue and let them...

I wish I could speak several other languages and all of them fluently. Especially languages like Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French and Russian. I love to communicate with people and I love to learn about other cultures and their way of perceiving the world, and I think much of it is related to the language one uses and you never can get close enough without being able to understand the language. I wish I also would be able to maintain a better grip of myself, so that it would be possible to...

oh wow, I feel like I haven't drawn for ages! And I'm still missing my inspiration- or maybe motivation to draw. maybe 'cos I haven't drawn for so long it doesn't feel so.... interesting (well that sounds kinda harsh!) well I guess same thing happened with anime at the beginning of this year, I didn't watch any anime 'cos of school work, and suddenly lost interest.... But now I've found couple of new anime so I don't have to worry. But drawing...... I guess I'll just have to force myself to...

Inside the Bannus Field -

I haven't been active in updating this journal for a while now. I guess at some point a few years ago, I just got burned out on reviewing and writing in general after having done that very actively for several years. It also didn't help that much of fandom moved over to Tumblr etc. which is just not suited for long text comments or in-depth analysis of books/tv/movies/whatever. This year I decided to try to revive this journal a bit and at least try to make monthly book/media comments which...

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine many have been drawing parallels between the prelude to WW2 and the current Russian-driven crisis. What's really funny is how oblivious the Russians themselves are to these parallels (even while desperately trying to draw their own), making a whole bunch of historical ironies possible. Useful idiots who consider themselves anti-fascists were rallying behind Vladimir Putin in Moscow a few days ago with banners saying Putin, People, Russia . You...

Cardboard pcb and recycled components The idea for making electronic projects on cardboard came from Ciat Lonbardes paper circuits. I had used veroboard previously. But it was a bit difficult to change more complicated designs to work on veroboard. Also making pcb:s at home seemed complicated with all chemicals, UV-lamps etc. Cardboard may not be the most sturdy material, but it is cheap, always available, environment friendly and it works. I also have a pretty good collection of circuit boards...

Due to technical difficulties elaborated below (or above... this world of online text is so confusing) I missed two days of e-newspapers and therefore had only my notes to work on. Since I had no access to the original articles anymore, the post is necessarily more about general musings than this specific publication. ------- It's that wondrous time of the year again when all over the media little...

A rapidly executed freehand drawing. Not intended as a finished work. Just a quick way of graphically demonstrating an idea or principle. The most exciting phase in a design process.

I've been enjoying a day off today after working during six days last week. The day was creative and  included even a bit shopping though I try to save my money for exploring of the world desperately.. I had a huge fewer to get abroad, but it looks that there is a dark shadow over my bank account :D I miss London and I also would like to pay a visit to Poland... and Berlin is also haunting on the mind.. Why can't I be a rich? I woke up early today and enjoyed when I didn't have to hurry up...

I've never read any of the Hector Lassiter novels by Craig McDonald , but have read several good reviews of them, so I picked the graphic novel version of his first novel, Head Games , up in the comic book store my friend runs here in Turku. The drawing style looked stylish, and the story line sounded good. I wasn't disappointed. The story about Pancho Villa's severed head and people hunting it is funny and tragic, and it reminded me of several other novels and films, such as Bring Me the Head...

Joskus kirppiksiltä tarttuu matkaan kaikenlaista outoa. En enää tarkkaan muista koska, mutta joitakin vuosia sitten tulin ostaneeksi jonkinlaisen teknisen piirustuksen. Moni on varmaan nähnyt kirppiksillä joskus ohuita penaalimaisia koteloita joiden sisällä on metallisia, hiukan harppia muistuttavia juttuja sekä niihin erilaisia vaihdettavia päitä. Ne ovat teknisiä piirtimiä ja niillä saa aikaan tällaista jälkeä. Hiuksenhienoja viivoja ja […]
