Light Scrape -

Street The photograph was taken on April 25th in Turku. Should I write something about the Trump sinkhole? Perhaps it is enough to note that fortunately there are people with courage and understanding who can put a stop to the bullying, whining and scamming that is perpetrated by the Orange One. (Posting title is from the poem History of My Heart by Robert Pinsky.) Posted by Juha Haataja at http://lightscrape.blogspot.com/

Motoristin Mutsi at home and garden -

Last weeks have been, well, variable. Moments of good, moments of... not so good. Some days I have seen all our, or at least mine,  future plans flown down the drain. Some days have just passed by. I had a chance to spend one week in Siuntio again. And at the time I spent there, I also had a chance to visit Lepopirtti. Lepopirtti was built in 1917 and it was bought by Miina Sillanpää  in 1921 for  holiday- and recreation place for women working as servant girls,  as well for other women...

...Conditional Opacity This new plugin by Michael Callahan makes parts of the window that are similar to the background colour transparent, leaving things in the foreground as bright as they should be! At the moment it uses black as a background colour, but as the post says, that can change if people like it. Michael's post explains all very well Legacy applications don't support transparency. Composition managers work around this by allowing each window to have a global transparency value...

my life in color -

It was time for Lux Helsinki again! My friend and I braved the -17C (-26 with wind chill...) weather for a lovely hour admiring the light installations. ( You can read more of them here. ) It was so cold even my camera thought I was kidding by taking it out... The presidential palace was pink.... :) My favorite was this black lit Flowers of Life.  It was simply magical. This one had a lovely steampunkish feel. We finally made our way to our favorite café for tea and cake. And warmth.. oohhh...

So nice to camera walk in the neighbourhood today after spending the last few days within the four walls getting rid of a winter flu. Spring truly was in the air today in Helsinki. By chance just before noon I […]

Today’s outfit. Light neutral tones and soft fabrics, my favorite things. I had such a bad luck yesterday, I broke my quite new camera memory card as well as my hard drive, which contains all the pictures for the last two or three years. So yeah there went many pictures for future posts I had […]

Normal 0 21 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Thank you for your comments (so glad that you are not tired of the cats yet), and the feedback for what I should put inside the kitten’s pants’ pockets; they are still empty, although I made a pair of mittens. Since last time, I finished one crocheted cowl, one pair of knitted socks and three little kittens. (Plus, I have one dog body without a face!) My focus has still been on the cats. The other things have provided a much-needed break...

In this series of driftwood on Lillooet Lake which I've been posting, many of the photos appeared somewhat blue in hue. With this group, I played with desaturation, which gave me black and white, then added a light sepia...

The Freelancer's Fashionblog -

Eddi is in Iran for a month, and I am working on a lot of projects, but I've tried to come up with some bigger and smaller quality-time things for me and Dag to do when possible. We've played some word games and made late night apple pie, and the other day we went to  Linnanmäki with my sisters and their boys. The amusement park normally closes after summer, or is open just a few hours in the afternoon, but throws a light carneval each October with evening opening hours and different programs...

Life thru a Lens -

This picture was taken with my New Nikon D80 + 50mm f1.8 lens. This was first attempt at light trails. And, even though this isn't a black & white photo, I thought i'd share this with you. I liked the look and feel of this picture.. Camera: Nikon D80 Focal Length: 50mm f number: f16 Exposure Time: 20 Secs

Haaveilijan kotona -

Today I found something on facebook: a video of solar bottle light in the Philippines. I just came from there three weeks ago. We battled with the lack of electricity at times. And we read our books with the help of a flashlight. These families living in the urban poor areas are living without light all the time. How innovative is the solar bottle light! Scandinavian Outdoor Stories -

We really wanted to go out on another overnighter before it would become too cold for the gear I have for the kids. However, we had only a few available weekends and the unusually rainy weather several times prevented us from going. The evenings and mornings are also getting increasingly darker, and while I realize that going out for an overnighter in the rain and darkness provides a good way to practice misery, I think the my boys won’t appreciate that for another few years. Still, the rain...
