View from our roof terrace. ¡Hola Andalucia! You are such a wonderful place to escape the Nordic winter and enjoy riding. We’re on a couples vacation in Nerja, East of Malaga. She brought her Bichon bolognese and I brought my Bianchi Oltre XR2 down here, so we have both own and joint time in Andalucia. I bought the EVOC bike box which is well designed and of good quality. It was a relief after all cardboard makeshift boxes I had on previous travels. Easy to pack and drag around, and...

Google Earth View issä on paljon hienoja kuvia maapallosta avaruudesta käsin.

Taide  on yksi kulttuurin peruskäsitteistä. Ehkä niitä on...

View 1 View 2 The photographs were taken on January 2nd at Petikko. I went for a walk this morning, wearing tall rubber boots, and when walking downhill an icy road I fell down. Luckily neither I or the camera in my hand got hurt, but still it was a reminder to be careful out there. (Posting title is from the poem Crane by David Yezzi.) View 1 View 2 View 3 The photograph was taken on December 31st, 2017. We got some new snow today, making the roads slippery because there is ice under the snow. When riding the bicycle one has to take care because the ice bumps and ridges are not visible through the snow. I have been rather happy with the footwear: Specialized Elite TR shoes and GripGrab RaceThermo overshoes. The shoes which I bought last summer are size 48, one size larger than my old shoes, and when I let the straps a bit...

View 1 View 2 The photographs were taken at Juvanmalmi industrial area on December 30th, 2017. I commuted by bicycle today. It was cold, -9 °C in the morning and -8 °C in the afternoon, and the hard wind made it feel colder. The new three-finger winter gloves by Craft were a good investment. Even though they are lightweight they keep the fingers warm. (Posting title is from the poem A Muse of Water by Carolyn Kizer.) Posted by Juha Haataja at http://lightscrape.blogspot.com/

I'll take you on a sky ride I'm feeling like I'm spellbound The sunshine is a lady Who rocks you like a baby Soon me and my magic friend will find ourselves in the sunny Andalucia. It is -12° C here in Helsinki now, so we will be more than happy if the temperature in Spain reaches 15-20° C. I will take my Oltre XR2 with me. My magic friend a.k.a. my wife will have books and our dog. We will have plenty of time to do things as well together as also separately. We are staying in Nerja. It is...

Taidan lähteä lomalle, kohde on jo valmiina. Tämä lomamökki Englannin Cornwallissa houkuttaa ihan mahdottomasti. Katsokaa, mikä upea ja ainutlaatuinen paikka! Oma kalliosaari, johon pääsee vain pitkin riippusiltaa pitkin. Ja ehkä näin pääsisin eroon pienoisesta korkeanpaikankammostani, kunhan ylittäisin sillan riittävän monta kertaa. Maisemat muuttuvat vuoroveden myötä toisenlaiseksi. Hengästyttävän upeat maisemat joka suuntaan - kallioita, merenrantaa, hiekkaa...

Me and my other half had our 5th anniversary yesterday so in honor of that I painted my lips red and put a pencil skirt on. Can't believe it's already our 5th year together, this time flies madly and it scares me.    It happened to be a day off so I was free to spend the day like I wanted. We ended up going to have drinks to a local sky bar (I like high places and I could stare at the horizon forever). After beverages we picked up pizzas and watched The Damned documentary which was fun and...

This is all you would want in a neighbourhood café.  It's a great little friendly, relaxing, and comfortable place.  Food and drink are good.  I've had cappuccinos, Earl Grey tea, wine, almond croissant, truffle mac and cheese with ham, and ale stew, and all were high quality.  Great service, good value for the area, especially with happy hour specials and a view of the harbour, comfortable decor, and pretty dishware and cutlery. I've often wanted a café where you can not only stay a...

View 1 View 2 View 3 View 4 The photographs were taken on December 4th at Pitkäkoski rapids by Vantaanjoki river in Helsinki. I commuted by bicycle today. Because of the cold weather it was once again nice to ride across the central park in Helsinki. The paths were frozen solid, no mud at all. There was slippery ice in only some isolated spots. IN...

Snow 1 Snow 2 The photographs were taken on November 26th. This morning I walked for 2 1/2 hours, starting from Oittaa and going towards Nuuksio, circling around lake Sorlampi. The forest paths were somewhat difficult, due to a combination of snow, ice, water and mud. I fell a couple of times when the ice broke and my feet dropped into the mud and water beneath. Luckily the camera stayed aboveground. Tall rubber boots were certainly useful. On the south side of hills little snow remained, and...
