Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood - Soundtrack

Julkaistu: · Päivitetty:

Quentin Tarantino is one of the greatest masters of the compilation score in the history of the cinema, and in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood he is at his best. The music supervisor is Mary Ramos who has worked with Tarantino since Pulp Fiction. For me personally the soundtrack is deeply moving since the years 1966-1969 were formative for me in terms of pop music. Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Deep Purple, Vanilla Fudge, Simon & Garfunkel and The Rolling Stones activate my personal time machine. As does the Batman theme from the 1960s tv series, heard as the film's last sound selection: a symbol of the fate of Rick Dalton as a disposable tv villain, and a prediction of an era dominated by superheroes. Significantly perhaps the first selection on the soundtrack album is "Treat Her Right" by Roy Head and the Traits. Interestingly, there are several selections from Bernard Herrmann on the soundtrack: from "Have Gun - Will Travel" (but not the Paladin theme song) - and from his final collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock, the great unused Torn Curtain score. ...
