Found some of good quotes about photography. “Not everybody trusts paintings but people believe photographs.” —Ansel Adams “In my mind’s eye, I visualize how a particular . . . sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an […]
Hares in Vadsö, Varange, Norway. Have been traveling for several days in the very North of Europe. Today found the hares just by good luck. Tomorrow heading to Båtsfjord if weather allows. Has been very cold but sunny all week.
The main goal of our arctic tour through snowy Finland and northern Norway, the King Eider! The bird was shot from a floating hide in Båtsfjord, Varanger, Norway.
Anyone who has rad my blog troughout the years would by this point be familiar with Atelieri O.Haapala , the neo-victorian portrait studio by Saara Salmi and Marco Melander! The project went on for a decade, and there were many amazing themes, backdrops and set ups, with thousands of beautiful pictures as a result. I've had the pleasure to have my photo taken several time during the years, both in studio but mainly at the pop-up events. And now they are aiming to make a beautiful and...

Bearded Reedlings are back in Espoo. The birds were away for many years. Now they can be found in the same place than five years ago.
Was a fearless bird, did not leave even if I moved closer and closer.
Ok, perhaps not exactly. But suitably for a time of growth, flowers, resurrection and Easter witches Asko and I did a photoseries for my act Happily Ever After, which is something of a reversed Sleeping Beauty ghost story. Photos by Asko Rantanen / Asko Jonathan Photography Concept and muah by me.
On our arctic tour to Varanger, Finnmark, Norway we stopped at Neljän Tuulen Tupa to shoot northern birds like Pine grospeak. The other were Siberian Jay and Siberian tit.
Another picture of this magnificent bird photographed in Utajärvi, Finland.
Earlier on this week we were in Kouvola (town in southern finland). Photo club called VERSUS asked the band as a model for the shooting session that they would arrange, so why the hell not? It was a great opportunity for us get our promotional pictures up to date. We like to thank our friend Joni for having a contact to us and every member of VERSUS. Also we would like to thank professional make-up artist Lotta Eloranta for a pretty nice work ;) So THANK YOU ALL!!! Here we have some teasers for...
Went to look for ospreys but found loons, today in Espoo, Finland.
This bird is a new acquaintance to me. We met in Espoo, Finland some days ago.
Reeds make water golden.
Met an eagle owl since a long time in a forest close to us. The bird is really impressive.
Photographed from a floating hide in Båtsfjord, Finnmark on our arctic tour a week ago.
You recently saw a couple of the photos we took with AskoJonathan Photography for my Happily Ever After-act. Because behind-the-scenes photos always make things better here's the set up for the series. A lot can be, and is done by photoshop, but the more you can put into the set organically the better. So I had the other photoshootees of the day functioning as ground for my rose bushes. As one does. Obviously the raw shots where there's a faun peeking out under my elbow are the best ones. Here...
On our arctic tour to Varang fjord in Norway.
The summer is very late an colors of leaves bright.
Marsh tea in Inari, Lapland.
Yes, the sun is low and that is good for a photographer.
There's been enough work again to say the least. When you've been transferring the idea of a building...
A new bird for me, today in Sipoo, Finland.
Crested tit – always a pleasure to meet.
Hi there! I am still around, believe it or not! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Let's see if we'll see more of each other in 2018, perhaps? Photo: Asko Rantanen / Asko Jonathan photography
Picture taken in the end of November in Helsinki.
All Lapland was nicely covered by frost some days ago when I was driving through.
