How to make traveling as part of family lifestyle? There are no good reasons why you could not raise global citizens and you could not introduce the world for your children. If there is a will, there is always a way. Trust me, I know. What’s your excuse? The children are too young. There are […] The post Tips How to Raise Global Citizens and Travel More with Kids appeared first on Skimbaco Lifestyle | online magazine .

Any in NZ -

Our time in Finland is coming to an end, again. I feel adrift, unwilling to travel, unable to stay, unfocused with everything that I should be doing. The early summer has been the coldest in 50 years, they say. Lucky me! Finland is really trying to freeze us out. I can handle the weather though, surprisingly. It's the cold muteness that I'm still not acclimated to. I feel like an idiot trying to make eye contact with other parents in the park, co-travellers in the tram or even the cashier in...

All right everyone. It's been a while. I hope you all had nice holidays and the new year is starting well. I have only seven weeks left at the day care. That's a good thing. Well, actually I kinda like it there now. Oh, I guess I didn't tell you that the bitchy director got her sorry butt fired after a couple of complaints. So, after that everything has improved a lot. Good for me. We were in Chicago right before Christmas. It was a fun little weekend trip to see old friends there. We went to...

What are travel bloggers recommending to do in Finland? I decided to ask some of my travel blogger friends from around the world what have been their favorite experiences in Finland during spring and summer time. The answer was pretty unanimous: experiencing Finnish nature. Even the big parties and celebrations like First of May/Labor Day […] The post Best in Finland Told by Travel Bloggers from Around the World appeared first on Skimbaco Lifestyle | online magazine .

What always stops me is the fact that I realize that I do not understand things fully. That happened to me today again. I listened a lecture about comperative regional analysis and I saw a paradox of a sales person, who is about to visit number of cities. The point was that he has to visit all those places and travel as little as possible. In other words, optimatize the route and you will have the right the right answer. Sounds easy. For exaple, the optimal routing for 24 978 cities of Sweden...

Let me try and revive this itinera blog, at least for a while, as there are some big ones coming shortly. I actually wanted to post this a bit earlier, but have got plenty of pretexts (such as ‘work’) not to have been able to compose an entry. This sudden, divine blogging inspiration was given by Vulcanus or Hephaestus or, if you prefer, Eyjafjalla. These musings are, of course, a bit past the momentum. How many of you still remember that volcano that erupted in Iceland and stalled air...

Here I am again... A lot of time has passed again since my last blog update, so I'll tell you about things that also passed some time ago: my trip to Finland in August. I had actually thoguht about writing here already from Finland, I had a text in my head and all, but there was really no time for anything like that. Normally I'm busiest in Finland when I'm Helsinki and try to see everyone in the last few days, but this time I was running around all time. First due to an extra trip to Helsinki...

Vietimme viime viikonloppuna pienen babymoon-loman Palm Springissä.

Hello! Even though it may not always seem like it, I am still here!  At least for the joy of all of those marketing SEO- and escort services, who I know from the comments are the ones that for sure still visit ("visit") my blog. But this is however a quick one, because now I am off to Italy to enjoy myself! But I did manage to schedule a couple of small posts so the spambots have something to dig in to. Happy midsummer! (...and for all the Finns, the greeting you have to add to this holiday...

Travelling is my passion and this is something I spend time thinking especially during the holiday season. I cut down my energy use, stick mainly to vegetarian and vegan diet and use bicycle to move around but when it’s about travelling I take a cheap flight to head to a far away destination every now and then (and complain about the poor energy efficiency and recycling facilities at the

greetings from berlin! in addition to exercise there are few things in life that lift your serotonin levels like a trip in the company of great women. ready to take off. morning view. i am not sure what in berlin strikes me as full of life. in itself the concrete gloominess is brightened only  by street art and tivoli lights marking restaurants and stores this time of the year. the magnificent promenades are not lined by lush trees as they are from spring till fall, but somehow there is a...

My Dear Hard Drive -

I don’t travel really, but since I live on the opposite side of the world to my home-home, I have a travel agent. World traveling, to other people, is a holiday, to me, it means spending a month in my mom’s backyard. However, as a valued customer, I get these god-awful depressing travel brochures sent to me periodically, that I […]

kuva. Poden matkakuumetta.

Hubby and I spent a weekend in Imatra. Just two of us - and tens of thousand of other people, who had came to Imatra to follow International Road Racing Competition. It is different for me now. To follow motorbike races. Seven years I was hanging in pit stops, following races - and scared. now I am able to just be there like an average spectator. There was excitement from the very beginning of our trip: this was the first time we used Motobiili - our son's motor home - all by ourselves. Even...

Fiend without a face -

I've been lucky enough to visit a lot of amazing places in the past couple of months. Some of them I had known about and planned to visit for a long time; others I accidentally stumbled into, or - more often - followed  a friend with more knowledge than I did.  Plitvice though was a bit different. I had actually seen photos of the lakes, in northern Croatia, several years ago. Pictures of the layers of green-blue lakes tumbling into each other tend to feature on lists like '1000 Places to Go...

This was my first burger with a journalist from Helsingin Sanomat. He's making a story about hamburgers and I was interviewed for the article while tasting several burgers. The Kämp was opened in 1887 and it was the first luxury hotel in Helsinki. It has seen the good and the worst days of Finland from two wars to independence. The Kämp restaurants were patronised by renowned politicians, artists, composers and writers. For example, composer Jean Sibelius, writer Eino Leino and painter Akseli...

on my way to nyc last november, i realized a long awaited dream of mine. visiting iceland had been on the list of to-dos for years, and the opportunity presented itself almost accidentally. friends were heading over to airwaves festival in reykjavik and offered their couch for me to crash on on my way. the layover on icelandair costs no extra, so well, why the hell not. the festival packs the city with music fans from all over the world, and therefore my experience probably wasn't the most...

kuva. Pohdintaa matkapahoinvoinnista ja matkailusta. Miten on mahdollista matkustaa ja roadtripeillä vaikka kärsii matkapahoinvoinnista, no on kyllä. Olen kärsinyt lapsesta asti matkapahoinvoinnista autoissa Suomessa.

my trip last fall via reykjavik was filled with music. the airwaves festival is such a cornucopia of music that the overlapping shows have you first devastated: you find yourself standing in line for phantogram and patrick wolf while you know you're missing out on some other great name. later on it is a relief to realize that just sitting down, sipping a beer anywhere in the city offers something great to listen to. even the off-venue program is so extensive that your brain will be intoxicated...

Already, you are mine. Rest with your dream inside my dream. Love, grief, labour, must sleep now. Night revolves on invisible wheels and joined to me you are pure as sleeping amber. No one else will sleep with my dream, love. You will go we will go joined by the waters of time. No other one will travel the shadows with me, only you, eternal nature, eternal sun, eternal moon. Already your hands have opened their delicate fists and let fall, without direction, their gentle signs, you eyes...

Musta aurinko -

Walked through Helsinki to my car at close to 5 AM today. After dancing in the overwhelming noise of the club I had been in since 11 PM, the contrast was steep. 2 degrees over freezing, empty streets except for the occasional taxi queue or person walking home, cars whizzing past... The mood reminded me of what it's like to sit in a long distance bus or train at night. You feel completely detached of it all. Time doesn't seem to pass, or even exist. You have no past, no future, only the moment...
