Vietimme viime viikonloppuna pienen babymoon-loman Palm Springissä.

Here I am again... A lot of time has passed again since my last blog update, so I'll tell you about things that also passed some time ago: my trip to Finland in August. I had actually thoguht about writing here already from Finland, I had a text in my head and all, but there was really no time for anything like that. Normally I'm busiest in Finland when I'm Helsinki and try to see everyone in the last few days, but this time I was running around all time. First due to an extra trip to Helsinki...

All right everyone. It's been a while. I hope you all had nice holidays and the new year is starting well. I have only seven weeks left at the day care. That's a good thing. Well, actually I kinda like it there now. Oh, I guess I didn't tell you that the bitchy director got her sorry butt fired after a couple of complaints. So, after that everything has improved a lot. Good for me. We were in Chicago right before Christmas. It was a fun little weekend trip to see old friends there. We went to...

What are travel bloggers recommending to do in Finland? I decided to ask some of my travel blogger friends from around the world what have been their favorite experiences in Finland during spring and summer time. The answer was pretty unanimous: experiencing Finnish nature. Even the big parties and celebrations like First of May/Labor Day […] The post Best in Finland Told by Travel Bloggers from Around the World appeared first on Skimbaco Lifestyle | online magazine .

How to make traveling as part of family lifestyle? There are no good reasons why you could not raise global citizens and you could not introduce the world for your children. If there is a will, there is always a way. Trust me, I know. What’s your excuse? The children are too young. There are […] The post Tips How to Raise Global Citizens and Travel More with Kids appeared first on Skimbaco Lifestyle | online magazine .

Our time in Finland is coming to an end, again. I feel adrift, unwilling to travel, unable to stay, unfocused with everything that I should be doing. The early summer has been the coldest in 50 years, they say. Lucky me! Finland is really trying to freeze us out. I can handle the weather though, surprisingly. It's the cold muteness that I'm still not acclimated to. I feel like an idiot trying to make eye contact with other parents in the park, co-travellers in the tram or even the cashier in...

What always stops me is the fact that I realize that I do not understand things fully. That happened to me today again. I listened a lecture about comperative regional analysis and I saw a paradox of a sales person, who is about to visit number of cities. The point was that he has to visit all those places and travel as little as possible. In other words, optimatize the route and you will have the right the right answer. Sounds easy. For exaple, the optimal routing for 24 978 cities of Sweden...

greetings from berlin! in addition to exercise there are few things in life that lift your serotonin levels like a trip in the company of great women. ready to take off. morning view. i am not sure what in berlin strikes me as full of life. in itself the concrete gloominess is brightened only  by street art and tivoli lights marking restaurants and stores this time of the year. the magnificent promenades are not lined by lush trees as they are from spring till fall, but somehow there is a...

Itinera mundi mentisque -

Let me try and revive this itinera blog, at least for a while, as there are some big ones coming shortly. I actually wanted to post this a bit earlier, but have got plenty of pretexts (such as ‘work’) not to have been able to compose an entry. This sudden, divine blogging inspiration was given by Vulcanus or Hephaestus or, if you prefer, Eyjafjalla. These musings are, of course, a bit past the momentum. How many of you still remember that volcano that erupted in Iceland and stalled air...

Päivi & Santeri - Matkalla elämässä ja maailmalla. -

--> Our southern African tour continued from Mozambique to Swaziland, Lesotho, and Namibia. The two tiny kingdoms surrounded by South Africa are very different. Swaziland is friendly and laid-back while Lesotho is poor and more challenging to enter because of lack of public transport. Both, however, are beautiful, hilly and mountainous. They reminded us little bit of Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. Namibia, on the other hand, is very German, particularly the capital Windhoek. Minibus from Maputo...

I've been lucky enough to visit a lot of amazing places in the past couple of months. Some of them I had known about and planned to visit for a long time; others I accidentally stumbled into, or - more often - followed  a friend with more knowledge than I did.  Plitvice though was a bit different. I had actually seen photos of the lakes, in northern Croatia, several years ago. Pictures of the layers of green-blue lakes tumbling into each other tend to feature on lists like '1000 Places to Go...

Travelling is my passion and this is something I spend time thinking especially during the holiday season. I cut down my energy use, stick mainly to vegetarian and vegan diet and use bicycle to move around but when it’s about travelling I take a cheap flight to head to a far away destination every now and then (and complain about the poor energy efficiency and recycling facilities at the

I don’t travel really, but since I live on the opposite side of the world to my home-home, I have a travel agent. World traveling, to other people, is a holiday, to me, it means spending a month in my mom’s backyard. However, as a valued customer, I get these god-awful depressing travel brochures sent to me periodically, that I […]

Blah I can't be bothered to post my art stuff here, I'm posting them on my Flickr page instead. So check it out. Just 10 more days of school left... The horror... And 7 full on assignments. It's the final countdown. Or pak'n'save. Or Woolworths. Or New World. Well actually it's only nine days since I'm skipping next Wednesday to go to Whanganui National Park :> tramping and jetboating. And take some cool photos, or try to at least, with my brand new bad ass Canon PowerShot S3 IS . I had to get...

My So Called Life -

So, my nephew had to stay in hospital and I headed back to home for two days. Today I came to Kuopio with my parents because of family reunion. Here was about 20 people. Some of them were new faces to me. We had nice time for few hours but now almost everyone has left away. Only those who stay at this camping site are here. This camping site is very nice but not as nice as the one where we were last summer. But this time we have cabin with own beach, row boat and sauna. We're gonna stay here...

In the last few years British Tv screens have become a battlefield for documentary-makers seemingly hell-bent on capturing the most upsetting scenes of human suffering. Crisp fifties were slipped under the front doors of anyone who lived in the shadow of a tragedy, and no 34-stone teenager was left unturned in the hunt for people struggling with rare genetic disorders, addictions and mental illness. The resulting programmes were shocking and sometimes controversial. Being Pamela, the story of...

Only 3 weeks to go before I gotta go back to school. And what I have done during summer break? Nothing! I've just been. I was supposed to start making thesis, but.. Oh well, I still have 1,5 years before it's gotta be ready. And actually we haven't even talked about thesis at school. But because my thesis will be pretty large, I could have started to gather the information for it. And for those who doesn't know what the subject of my thesis will be, it's Irish Culture . So, I said in one post that I'm gonna forget LJ and that kind of stuff.. Well.. I got more paid time like 5 minutes ago! :D Facebook and Twitter status updates aren't so good places to tell all my feelings because of limited space. So decided to give LJ new chance. So lets continue a bit what happened in Kuopio after the family reunion. Actually, nothing big happened. We just were. And later on the evening we went to fire place to grill some sausages. I ate only one though. But there was me...

She's back! Yay! And she brought candy! Yay! I'm glad that the dog calmed down after only an hour or so of frenzy. Dog did try to eat our hamster too, but that was my oversight. I'm sure she'll be scripting her travel journal into her blog before long and I won't be commenting on her trip. Expect to say that she's truly cursed when it comes to meeting nice people. More surprising was to see her with makeup. Actually look at her with her make-up on. Her eyes were so very glittery pretty*. Had I...

Ukraine: Many hitchhikers say it's dangerous to hitchhike in Ukraine. Though, if your Russian is good enough, and you feel like it: just go for it! When hitchhiking in Ukraine do not be surprised if you are occasionally asked for money from drivers. It is not often, however, but it occurs. The state of the roads are pretty dire in general, and the biggest problem is the distances involved are usually pretty big (for example Lviv to Kyiv is around 550km. In winter Ukraine can get very cold, for...
